I visited Birdworld on Tuesday, my first visit in 6 months. All of the birds are looking beautiful and the Macaws are as fun as always. The Seashore walk has had the netting taken away so all the birds have been moved to nearby aviary's. I'm not sure what they're going to do with Seashore Walk, but it's looking quite run down... there was no water in it, just some geese taking advantage and resting in the sun.
No sign of Bluebeard in the large Aviary with the Macaws, Parrots, Galah and Cockatoo's. I have no clue where he is, I wasn't able to ask any of the keepers
the Scarlett Macaws were the most entertaining though, they kept pulling at each others tail feathers before trying to rip off leaves of plants and generally trying to destroy the aviary
A lot of the Humboldt Penguins are laying on eggs at the moment. There were only a few Penguins out during the first feeding session. The two youngsters were showing off, porpoising and teasing the herrons
But there were a lot more out at the second feeding session, all ravenous and a couple chased the Herons away.
The Rhea, Emu and Ostrich were all displaying. All prancing around and waving their wings. It was interesting to watch, especially the Ostritch. It is sad he's alone, but he's alone for good reason
The farm was very busy, there were loads of Goat Kids running around. Loads of Chicks and Ducklings in the incubation cage, sheep with really young lambs... the Peacocks were staying pretty much out of the way, except one male that decided he was going to show off. The ponies, Nanny, Biscuit and Spirit, were all out in the fields, as well as the Donkey and Ben the Bull.
They didn't use Heron Theatre for the flying display, they've turned the land next to the Topiary Garden and Penguins into an outdoor theatre. They were using a Silver/Grey Owl, two Kookabura's, one Striated Caracara and a Blue Gold Macaw. The Macaw likes to disappear over Forest Lodge a lot
It was a really interesting show, extremely informative and showed off the birds abilites very well. The Caracara showed us how to play Kaplunk, predator style
They had a chick held in with twigs and he would pull them out one by one until the chick fell. Very clever bird

Underwater World was interesting. I was shocked to see that half the shop has been turned into a mini-pet store, when it used to be all about marine animals. Meh... they gotta do what they gotta do I s'pose. Anyway, the Caiman are looking good, all of the fish tanks are really beautiful... impressed as always by such a small aquarium
I took well over 1000 photo's and posted the best 40 on my flickr account. When I figure it out, I'll post some here too
