Latest news from the nature centre is a pair of Green Tree Pythons are a new addition to the Reptile House and work has begun on developing a new Rhea enclosure.
The Green Tree Pythons were just one of the many species of Snake that they have held off-show for many years, because they didn`t have an exhibit that they could keep them in on-show.It is a real pity that they don`t have more on-show space for the Reptile collection because what people see is less than 50% of the species that they keep, and most of them are not seen very often in public collections within the UK.

The days of (non) beaver spotting are over, I visited today and they are gone!
I asked about them and was told they went to a private collection.
their little pool is filled in and it's now home to some exotic fowl (sorry dont remember what they are).

The rhea's are now a fir size and are in two groups as 3 of them are going to another collection.

The mara is out of the guinea pig house and is now in with the giant rabbits so at least he has some company his own size.

There will be a few more additions so I'm told so it will be interesting to see just what...

Just a quick question does anyone know if the Nature Centre is now open Monday - Friday or is it still open weekends only.

EDIT - just to let everyone know the website link from the gallery is now down as are most of Birmingham Coucils Outdoor activity sites
