Birmingham Nature Centre Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park News 2018

I am tempted, but shouldn't as I have to work on Sundays getting all my planning and prep in place for the coming week :-( (At least it is only 4 days next week!)

Had a nice visit to BWCC today. Saw the baby sloth, and got some photos of the new Komodo Dragon exhibit. Plans are to give "Pete" the Dragon an outside area as well, to the right of the enclosure (Where the cranes currently are).

Does this mean that the Blue cranes will have to be either moved to another enclosure in the park or off to another collection? Because they certainly CANNOT have them sharing the same enclosure as the Komodo Dragon, that I know.

I would hope they’d stay, I rather like the blues

I didn't get a chance to ask as the team were very busy. Hopefully the blue crane will be moved to another part of the park.

Some people are absolute idiots. That’s all I have to say.

The usual groups do their rounds of zoos around the West Midlands at Easter time every year, but this is the first time I've seen any vandalism.

I been having such a laugh at some of the comments and videos they've been posting online over the past few days. Never will you encounter such narrow-minded, uneducated and ill-informed people. Bless 'em.

I always think that if instead these people put their efforts towards campaigning to bring an end to poaching, deforestation etc. then their would be no need for zoos and their prayers would be answered.

This is just speculation but I think the Blue may move to the White naped crane exhibit as they only have a single bird now and the white naped may move to another collection.

See I have a relative, who shall remain anonymous who is big into their animal rights, you know the shtick, vegan, protests, lots of social media posts. But I think even they would find this utterly ridiculous.

This annoys me so much. They will achieve nothing because they are too stupid. Honestly, these people I feel just read too much bs online from Peta and the like.

Visited yesterday, not much to report. The Komodo enclosure is very nice indeed, me and my daughter even watched the documentary being shown inside the building. Only other bit of news is the extension to the reptile house has foundations laid, looks to be roughly half the size of the original building. Only no-shows were the spider monkeys, everything else was visible.

With the changes occouring to the invertebrate house, the park have announced once done it will house a number of new species for the park.

As for the species currently residing there they will be moving to other collections.
