Does anyone know what is going on with the Zoo lately? They are keeping even members in the dark with what exactly their plans are with Trails of Africa.
Every time I go one of our large mammal species is "gone to another zoo". Why would they move Matata and Kenya (our greater kudu) when they have a 9 month old baby? Are they coming back? No one ever answers any questions.
Ten years ago the Zoo did lose AZA accreditation and it lost most of its charismatic species if you will.
But 10 years ago we had Beisa Oryx, Greater Kudu, Sitatunga, and Bison that are no longer there. Don't get me wrong people love Elephants but if we built a 14 acre enclosure for just them don't you think they could have shaved off three acres of that and kept the hoofstock?
