Ok, I'm just wondering, is it ok for me to continue this thread? Here is my personal advice which may be helpful especially to the younger members. This is NOT official advice from a moderator, just my personal advice. One of the major problems of the modern online world is hackers trying to steal personal information to use for ill intent (aka Identity Theft where they can do things like open credit cards in your name and you get the bill). One of the pieces of key identification they can use is birth date. That is why I never post my birth date online (in fact I made up a fake birthday when I joined Facebook and don't even allow that fake one to be publicly visible). Those of you who have your birthday listed on this site and other sites may want to think about removing it. Also those of you with email names or user names that have your birth year (aka JohnSmith89 because you were born in 1989) should think about changing them. Just my personal advice, take it or leave it.
Yes - if people have their birthdays listed on their account then obviously they don't mind people knowing about it. I just think personally it's a bad idea for people to list them in the first place.Ok, I'm just wondering, is it ok for me to continue this thread?
Oh, ok, I was just thinking that you were saying that listing them is alright, but posting about it wasn't right.Yes - if people have their birthdays listed on their account then obviously they don't mind people knowing about it.
