Chester Zoo Births & Deaths in 2009

I thought id setup this thread to help us keep up to date with some of the births and deaths at the zoo in 2009. feel free to add

Subis gave birth to Kirana in February

yep i was gutted when i heard about it

There are also no longer prehensile-tailed skink and sanzinia boa at Chester.

More warty pigs have been born in 2009.

i thought it was 2 bear deaths as they had 2 new bears from a zoo in switzerland.

Chester's first pair of Spectacled Bears were a pair of brother who came from a Polish Zoo (I believe). Strolch and Valentin I think.

One of these brothers was moved out for a new female named Loja and the zoo tried to breed from Strolch and Loja.

Strolch developed cateracts and had to be euthanised and they zoo replaced him with one male bear from Zurich Zoo, named Sangay.

Unfortunately Sangay and Loja had an altercation and Loja died. So currently, the zoo has 1 male Spectacled Bear
