Bison

Any data as to Total Numbers?

Any information on size and sex age ratio's?

No clue. It's difficult enough confirming places have them. Some have two, some have dozens.

In the thousands of animals, no doubt. Bison are commonly farmed for food in North America.

My # doesn't even include meat farms or anything, just zoos, safaris, state parks, etc. There's a small bison meat farm near me, actually. I've picked up bones for my dogs from there before, but there's such a demand that you usually have to reserve well in advance.

I figured, I was just attempting to explain that this species is extremely common in private hands.

Interesting to see the differences of the populations of American Bison in American zoos compared to zoos in Europe. According to figures by @ThylacineAlive, there are 49 zoos in the AZA that hold American Bison (Where do the Deer & Antelope Play?: A Look at America's Ungulate Populations). However, there are only 9 European zoos that hold American Bison (non-subspecies specific) according to Zootierliste. Is this just a case of more zoos holding them because they are situated where the species is located?
However, there are still 99 holders of Southern Plains Bisons in Europe.

If you check the subspecies, you will see that there is quite a lot more holders!

Looking at it again, you are quite right. I didn't realise Europe held so many altogether, as I thought their bison situation was similar to the bison situation in the UK, which has now proved to be false.
