Blackbrook Zoo (Closed) Blackbrook in administration

I would love to see the place stay open but as it say's the alleged new owners already have a business within the UK I would not be at all surprised if the collection was absorbed by the other collection and the site sold on for housing development but I really hope it stays open.

Sorry about the negativity but have to be real these days if it is easier for the new owners to keep one site open then we all know what will happen unless the other site is smaller

Yes there is a vast need for housing in the Blackbrook area,and it floods quite often so yes its ideal for selling and building houses on!

OK then, it will 100% be built on then with a Con government in place like all the houses built on FLOOD plains in the 80's under a con Government.

As I said I hope it stays open and continues to grow as it is a wonderful place and hope they get the collection back to what it was.

:confused: Have you ever been there? It's in the middle of nowhere and the surrounding area is very sparsely populated -basically there's no real demand for a housing development.

If someone did want to build houses in the area it'd be cheaper just buying a field or two (or doing barn conversions), not an area with drainage issues and a zoo to demolish.

Finally, if the land were that suitable for development (both in terms of housing demand and quality of land) you can bet your bottom dollar an established/experienced property developer would have put in an offer (not another zoo owner).

Personally I am hoping that the Chestnut / New Forest bunch have bought it - keeping the bird theme - but adding a native moorland twist could be fun.

Now that would be an excellent choice,but I suspect they will go for who ever has offered them the most money,no matter how little experience they may have at running a zoo!
 
I can't wait to see who it is. Hopefully they will get the park back on its feet.

Blackbrook will be closing its doors for a short time with immediate effect. Sincere apologies for all those who were planning to visit soon.
We are embarking on a very exciting journey behind the scenes, getting Blackbrook rejuvenated ready to re-open as soon as we can. We will keep you posted with any updates as often as possible.
We would to take this opportunity to thank all of our visitors for your continued support and kind words in what has been a very stressful and troublesome time, but all of that is behind us now as we start a new and exciting journey and we look forward to seeing you all again soon!!

Nice to see you jumping in yet again,for the record the last time I heard the park was staying open,until October this year being run by the administrators at which point the new owners would take over,and then the park would be closed for a rebuild and re-open again in 2015 hopefully in time for Easter!But having had more than a bit of experience of how administrators work with company's in this position,when ever plans change like this it normally means that the the new owners do not want to take on the existing staff and get the administrators to get rid of them so that they do not have to pay them a penny!!!

So more I case of been there got the t-shirt and not I know something you don't know!!!

This place is in the middle of nowhere, I'm assuming new staff would have to come from far and wide and cost a hell of a lot more. So not sure your theory holds water.
As someone who made their first visit this year just before they went into admin, i wouldn't have shed a tear if the place closed for good. If the new owners think they can make a successful money making animal collection out of this place they are barking. But mind you, the zoo world seems to be full of barking owners.

I visted in March and if it had been my first visit I would have agreed with you, I was lucky enough to see Blackbrook in a far better state than it is now, and I hope it can become a good place to visit again.

On my last visit I left thinking that I did not care if I ever came back again.
 
I visited for the first time just after they went into administration and I really enjoyed the experience. I realise it wasn't at its best but its still one of the best bird collections in the UK. I very much look forward to visiting again.
 
Blackbrook ideally needs an enthusiast on Aspinallesque proportions, ie with very deep pockets. To expect the collection as it was to be a money-making venture does strike me as being optimistic; equally, a little bit more hard-headed realism that served more hot food and drinks under cover could only make life easier for all concerned.
