What were the circumstances of the lemur and the nilgai's death? I don't remember seeing anything about those. Very surprised the incident with the escaped macaque and the lions wasn't mentioned

What is the general feeling on this up in Scotland. Since, the BIAZA and Zoo Inspection teams have operated fine, I wonder what the noise is all about given that Born Free does have its own agenda.

The nilgai was gored during a fight with another male. I cannot remember the circumstances of the lemur's death.

Personally, I'm not a fan of BDSP though I wouldn't speak for all Scots. I'm not terribly impressed by any enclosures, which seem to be a tad small in many cases (giraffes in particular) when they have room to expand. The macaque death (mauled by lions after escaping) was 100% foreseeable to me due to the fence height and the number of tacky kiosks and such make the animals feel like an afterthought.

But yeah, Born Free probably just want to shoot down a zoo of the week and this week it was BDSP

Is Teekay and Maklay (African lions) still here or have they passed?

I'm guessing Maklay is Makalu, the female mentioned in the news article regarding the above report? Obviously kept quiet until today

Lola the Sealion has sadly been put down due to organ failure. No idea on her age but announced in the last 1/2 hour

Are the Camels both male? I know it's a random question, but recently I've noticed that male bactrian camels tend to have darker fur than the females. Correct me if I'm wrong I just thought it was a coincidence

As part of its ongoing biodiversity and conservation work, Blair Drummond Safari Park has just completed its brand new, state-of-the-art sea lion habitat. Carefully designed to replicate natural conditions for its residents, ‘California Cove’ is part of a multi-million pound upgrade and the most ambitious build undertaken at the park in its 50-year history:

Our sea lions new home - Blair Drummond Safari Park

Have they ever bred Sealions here before or would this be a first for the park?

We’re so delighted to announce that Dot, one of our beloved southern white rhinos, has just given birth to her sixth calf.

Born at around 11:30am yesterday, the calf is Dot and Graham's fourth daughter.

These photos were taken just after her birth and as you can see, it didn't take her long to get up on her feet!

We will be looking for your help to name her, so keep an eye on our upcoming social media posts for your chance to get involved.
