Blank Park Zoo Blank Park Zoo

Great minds think alike okapikpr! I think that we happened to post new threads within a minute or two of each other...too funny. The Blank Park Zoo is indeed a "relatively obscure" zoo in my mind, as it is barely ever mentioned on ZooBeat, there wasn't even a thread for it on this website, and I doubt if many overseas people here are aware of its existence. When one thinks of the best 30 zoos in the United States that one does not spring to mind...

Snowleopard are you saying the Blank Park Zoo is almost a "Blank" on the Zoo map, LOL

Between the two of us, we'll have the rest of the american zoos un-obscured in the next year or so :D

As for the new asian exhibit, here is a list of the major Asian species they currently have to make up a list of what they might be getting:

Tiger
Snow Leopard
Gibbon
Japanese Macaque

Im thinking the new species will be orangutans or Indian Rhinoceros...a large mammal that will excite the new expansion.

Did someone say Indian Rhinos

I hope it is NOT orangs!
If they only have $4.5million and plan to build both an exhibit and an amphitheater, it won't be much of an orang exhibit.

Keep an eye on Blank park Zoo. As we do with the rest of Iowa, the US and Canada ignore it, but this small zoo is poised to expand into the adjacent park and grow up! Their director is a businessman (rather then a zoo man) and should be able to leverage the funding.

i believe that construction costs might be somewhat cheaper out there in Iowa, than for many of the big city zoos whose construction costs we are used to. I've seen small zoos build nice exhibits for a decent amount of money.
