Rotterdam Zoo Blijdorp News 2023

now that I have read it again it states that the whole area will be worked on in this time frame. Speculation, does that open the door for the re-use for the beartheather or that area for something? I thought I had read somewhere that Blijdorp still had the intent to renovate this rijksmonument.

- The Rotterdam Zoo has received 2.0 white-necklaced partridge from Antwerp
- The Rotterdam Zoo no longer keeps Himalayan monals
- Death of the only male Moussier's redstart known to have been housed anywhere in Species360-affiliated zoos. The only remaining female lives in Paradise Park, Hayle.
- Recently 0.3 wanderoos were added to the tumultuous 1.1 already present. No luck so far with their introduction, recently one of the females even leaped off the island to escape from the other members of the group...
-The flamingo flock has surpassed the 150 individuals
-The jellyfish corner in the North Sea part of the Oceanium has been decommissioned. Jellyfish are still kept in the plastic exposition near the exit of the building.
-Departure of the young servals (2020) to Singapore, as well as the departure of 1.0 okapi 'Ngwani' to Frankfurt
-Death of the 30 year old female cotton-top tamarin
-The Rotterdam Zoo is temporarily taking care of 11 extra yellow-throated laughingthrushes that were formerly kept by an individual. They are housed behind the scenes at the Longhouse.

Sauce and seconds: Kort Nieuws #190

There are indeed twe okapis left in Rotterdam but they are M'Buti en Mayala. Minha was send to the Arabic Emirates in 2022.

It housed tortoises, frogs, piranhas and butterflies.

Turtles, not tortoises. A little quirk of our language is that we don't make the distinction between the two.

It also housed the Arapaimas, Redtail catfish and River stingrays. I personally hope they don't renovate it, and instead build a new greenhouse that will better stand the test of time and will showcase the animals better

It's truly embarrassing – mismanagement at its finest, leading to the most blatant squandering of resources. Such multimillion investments shouldn't be ready for the bonfire in just 10 short years.

With a new lightweight structure placed over it, designed to securely accommodate only the new high-quality cushions, it should work perfectly fine, in my opinion.

However, they probably won't consider it. There's a good likelihood they want to bring in the gorillas to overthere, effectively tossing the continental layout out the window.

It's all incredibly unbelievable.

The Riviere Hall desperately needs renovation, and the current indoor enclosures for the gorillas are no longer adequate, so they will need to do something with the gorillas. This was already outlined in the masterplan. Personally, I had hoped they would create an indoor habitat in the location of the zoo school next to the playground. However, with the almost certain demolition of Amazonica, I can also envision them relocating to the other side of the train tracks.

Thanks Haasje. Do you please have a link to the master plan ?
