The male Lowland Gorilla NASIBU has just been transferred to Fasano Zoo in Italy.
Diergaarde Blijdorp - Rotterdam Zoo on Instagram: "Herenigd in Italië! Gorilla Nasibu, een oude bekende van Blijdorp, is onlangs verhuisd vanuit Pairi Daiza (België) naar Fasano in Zuid-Italië. Het mooie is dat hij daar de leider mag zijn van Tamani, Tonka en Thabo, waar hij in Blijdorp mee is opgegroeid. Een dierverzorger uit Blijdorp heeft meegeholpen om de introductie te begeleiden. De hereniging is succesvol verlopen. De vier gorilla’s doen nu alles samen: slapen, eten en naar buiten gaan. In Blijdorp kun je ook nog steeds gorilla's bewonderen. Je vindt ze in de zijvleugel van de monumentale Rivièrahal, wanneer zij verhuizen is nog onbekend."

The two groups of white-naped mangabeys were recently joined together and moved to the gorilla enclosure. They will be introduced to the gorillas in the spring.

A new species of monkey can be seen in their old enclosure opposite the animal clinic since today. The entire group of Diana monkeys from Artis has moved to Diergaarde Blijdorp. The group consists of one adult male, two females and their two cubs.

Yesterday a Loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) was found on the beach at Hoek van Holland, the turtle has been brought to Blijdorp and is kept behind the scenes.

A happy occasion in Blijdorp: overnight a reticulated giraffe was born. The mother ('Kimberley') is experienced and has raised multiple youngsters before this one.

The newborn is a male, he was given the name Antoon.

At the start of this month a (new) female Wreathed hornbill (Rhyticeros undulatus) was introduced to the male in Taman Indah.

Recently 2 Nepalese red pandas (Ailurus fulgens) were send to Darjeeling Zoo (India). Here they will take part in the national breeding program and their offspring might get released into the wild.
