I would just like to share something rare that I saw today.
Today (31/1/10) I was down at my parent's shack at Middleton (which is next to Victor Harbor in South Australia) and I went to Middleton Beach to go for a surf. It was very windy and the waves were quite choppy. As I was about to go into the water I saw lots of small blue jellyfish washed up on the shore, they were blue bottles (Portuguese Man o' War). While I was in the water there were also lots of them floating around. Many people had been stung and were running into the beach and going home. Because there were so many of them I decided to go home early.
The reason that I thought it was rare is that I have never seen or heard of blue bottles in that part of South Australia in my lifetime and I was also wondering if they are usually found in South Autralia or if they are an 'accident' washup in that area. I just wanted to share what I saw.
