Arrived just after 11am to find the Entrance now closed due to refurbishment to the old building, entrance is now through the side gate this is also used as the exit.

The entrance fee of £4.00 per adult is just great for a very good small collection and makes for a great out the family will enjoy.

BENNETTS RED NECKED WALLABY-
These have now moved from their enclosure just in front of you as you walk in to the old Mouflon Sheep enclosure, a bit further down the path to the left I think this is a good move as Wallabies sharing with Goats didn’t look that good really.

SITATUNGA –
They still have these wonderful animals in the same enclosure as last year and they are now using the small enclosure to the left of the main enclosure which gives them a little more room within the enclosure.

RED SQUIRREL –
These guys will shortly be moved to a new enclosure which is currently being built down opposite the Bennett’s Red Necked Wallaby enclosure.
This new enclosure for them looks to be a much bigger and better than the old one, which can only be good for both the Squirrels and the visitors.

SAOY SHEEP –
These are no longer in the collection and I must admit not being a sheep lover I will actually miss these little guys.
I used to stand and watch the lambs run chase and wildly jump every year and just looking at their cheeky faces well this I will miss.

JACOB SHEEP –
This is another species missing from the collection this year I don’t know if it’s for the better having so many sheep species leaving the collection at one time as when you’ve seen them and watched them for a couple of years on a regular basic you miss them when they are not there.

ICELANDIC SHEEP –
Unsure as to whether these have left the collection or not as when I visited last year did as a keeper if they had left they said no and on returning later in the day I did manage to see one in the night enclosure so unsure on this one.

RING TAILED LEMUR –
These guys will shortly have a new open topped enclosure (old soay sheep enclosure)this will be a better and again a larger one for the Lemurs, plenty of climbing frames are already being erected within the enclosure.

GEOLDI’S MONKEY –
Did notice there enclosure was empty and was wondering if they had left when I noticed a sign and then a Geoldi’s in the small enclosure by the Soay Sheep old enclosure was wondering as to why move them from the larger enclosure but maybe it has something to do with the refurbishment of the small mammal house.

RED PANDA –
The new enclosure will be placed between the Reptile House and the Golden Headed Tamarins/Mara enclosure this looks to be a very good and interesting enclosure but was wondering as to why they have placed the enclosure so close to overhanging tree’s as this will keep the keepers busy with pruning every year.

GAINT RABBIT –
This enclosure is now empty and couldn’t see any signs of a species being in the enclosure.

Over all view is that this is going to be a great small collection when all the refurbishments are complete and I must admit I will be visiting on a regular basis and I would recommend this collection to everyone I know.
It’s great to see the café open again but the prices all I will say is London Prices in Birmingham won’t work.

Over All Score - 7.5 / 10

EDIT - Photographs of the new enclosures under construction are in the gallery please note that there are thumb nail pictures as well

The cafe has been expensive for as long as I remember, but I suppose they have to get extra income some how! ;)
A very nice summary Adrian, I just hope that the sheep get replaced soon but judging from recent developments I assume that won't be an issue. Hoping to get down soon to see the new enclosures for myself. I'm also looking forward to seeing the ocelots and golden lion tamarins going on display! :D
