The Animalarium is based in Borth near Aberystwith  It is one of the worst collections i have visited in recent years with few redeeming features. Check out the pictures of the place i recently uploaded to the gallery.

If only I had the money

I would guess that it needs at least what it costs to buy (£850,000), or, better yet, round up to a £1 million in order to hire keepers, repair fencing, fund enrichment and expand existing enclosures. Seems daft to get in new species when the present ones' homes need some serious DIY.

Is accomadation included with the zoo?
I remember when The Lakeland Wildlife Oasis came up for sale and that was if i can remember correctly £750,000?
That was a good collection but no accomadation was to be with the zoo,
Hopefully it can be bought by someone who knows what they are doing :)

Stole my post Foz :p
I would, my auntie's pretty loaded lol. Would be great for one of us to do something like this, whoever did it would not have a hard time getting ideas for stuff (hypothetically speaking now ;) )

By the way, anyone have a link? Can't find anything on google.

I meant about it being for sale. Strange how there's nothing about.

As has previously been stated , Animalarium is in a remote part of the country - much more so than Folly Farm and Manor House . Borth itself is a very small , not particularly attractive seaside resort . Because of this , it would be very difficult to increase visitor numbers to make the purchase and needed additional expenditure a particularly attractive proposition . If someone had a lot of spare cash fair enough , having to borrow money for the purchase is a different matter .

It wants closing down and the animals rehoming, not selling..................

I think at £850,000 this place is seriously over valued!! the place is only a couple of acres at best isn't it?

Given the fact Manor House was only £1 000,000 then they will be hard pushed for a buyer at that price!

I'll give you a tenner for it, and I'm being generous!

I have chucked the paper away now but it was a big add, and was def this place although I was surprised to see no mention on their own site.

I'm interested in the size too. Yeah, come to think of it Dartmoor zoo was only £1.6 mil, and that had a better collection and a massive house. What's the species list for Borth?
