Bournemouth Oceanarium Bournemouth Oceanarium

if only...!
Too many things in this world to get angry/distressed about for some people to appreciate that which is good
Some people confuse me I was watching the Born free foundation's channel because I just like laughing at stupid people. So I came across this video abot the sealife trust called sea lies which they basicalyy say dumb things about the companyand a few years later they post a video praising them about the beluga sanctuary.o_O

There was an article posted yesterday of some animal rights protests.

Here is the article
Calls made to shut down Oceanarium - as figures show 3,500 deaths
I could be wrong, but surely with how many species the aquarium holds, and the relatively short lifespans of most fish and marine invertebrates, 3,500 deaths over the course of five years is only marginally more than what is to be expected, if even that? I almost wonder if they are aware of this, and that is why 'between 2018 - 2023' is hidden in small font at the bottom of the sign that could be illegible from a distance.

Unfortunately, a lot of people just blindly accept this anti-zoo information, such is the power of fearmongering. I hope it isn't long before some people with platforms start speaking out in favour of zoos to counteract this.

I recall one week of the year there is in the UK 'Zoo Awareness Week'; where some people go and protest their local zoo for that week of the year.
POSTSCRIPT It's Zoo Awareness Weekend; which takes place on the Easter Weekend. [Good Sunday; and preceding Saturday]
This I would guess is building momentum for that.
What I question then is if it is to coincide with peak season why they wouldn't do it in the summer....

Easter Weekend is the peak period for attractions as it’s the first bank holiday/s of the year (and a four day weekend for many) when most people feel that they can get out and about after the winter. That’s why zoos are always targeted at Easter.
