The zoo has ended up in controversy yet again when the zoo's owner called a baboon an unacceptable name (which I will not repeat) on live television because it wouldn't do what he wanted.
What an idiot. I was watching Breakfast Television that morning, but didn't see that part of the segment. I know they go to the zoo at least once a year and do a segment, but it looks like Breakfast Television won't be going anymore.
Now I'm not a fan of PETA but Bowmanville Zoo just keeps doing things to make itself look terrible... well not all the staff... the owner seems to enjoy ruining his zoos reputation. To be honest I have never been there but the past couple of years has convinced me I probably never want to go.
You're not missing much by not going. I went a couple years ago and wasn't all that impressed. At the same time, on the surface, the animals don't seem or look like they are being abused. They seem content.
I have only recently looked at this zoo on zoochat hence the comment i made about the public displays to one photo, but I did wonder what sort of zoo still runs things a bit like a circus show. Now I know.
