Taronga Zoo brazilian tapir @ taronga

ok thnx, its jsut so much info to process, especially when in big blocks of writing, thanks for the info.

sorry yes more questions, i am sorry for them all, but i dont have the plan you do, (you could send me a copy ;) i no u wont )

1. what will rpelce floral clock and spider monkeys, or are they staying as they are. if so, where are spider monkies going, did u say near orangs?

2.is the koala tree tops walk about staying where it is?

3.what is going where the penguins and seal thetre is currently?

4. what individual species are in the South American Precint?

sorry if you have answered, i carnt find.

ok
1-
the spider monekys will be replaced by tasmanian devils, and the area will become a horticultural introduction to wollemi. an exhibit of water rats may be built here, but i think its more likely this will just become a bush area.
the spider monkeys will be going to the orangutan exhibit. thats why i dont understand mysef where the orangs will end up living. ill see what i can find out.
2-
no the koala treetops area will not be staying where it is. that area is going to become like a conservation theatre area for travelling exhibitions etc. the koalas will instead be rebuilt on top of the noctunal house, where the wetlands bridge currently ends.
3-
the seal theatre and penguins will be waterfalls which will continue
(under the road?) and then flow down into the gibbon pools.
4-
macaws, galapogas tortoise, spider monkeys, squirrel monkeys, tamarins and marmosets, anaconda and poion arrow frogs.

thankyou very much glyn, i am really sorry for all the questions, i just want to find as much as i can out about zoos, as we all do, thankt=you so much, there will be more qns hehe ;)

and that is werid, maybe the orangs are leaving the zoo?

hey zoo boy how old are you?
im 21, i think you asked me the other day. so how old is pat? and the others? are we the young ones?
lol
i really doubt that orangs will be phased out. the masterplan identifies where all exhibits will be, but of course its not 100% and has to remain flexible and able to compromise as species become available and unavailable.
for example, guenons were meant to be retained 6 years ago when the plan was released. we all know that didnt happen. dhole were supposed to go into the asian rainforest next to the deer, which were meant to be philipine deer. we all know that didnt happen. where are the babirusa, or sulawesi macaques. the procupine, or the pygmy hippo, or the duiker, are all highly unlikey to ever eventuate as exhibits without radical overhauls to the quarantine laws.
rest assured, magnificent orangutans will probably always have a place at taronga

lol im 17, so is ben, i beleive pat and yourself are about 21, zuki is around there as well, we never reveile a ladies age hehe, um mark about double your age glyn. sorry mark. lol

well i have done my masterplan roughly now, but it wont let me load on to the site, i took the taronga map, and overplaid where i think everything should be

i will explain. from top entry, a main path leads to old seal pools, past the south american, but no entry here to it. from the my heart of zoo, which is a great idea, which leads people back to here all the time. from here we access everything along 3 main adjoing paths.

Path A

this leads to africa, south america and , the conservation thetre. all paths lead back to here, where visitor can take 4 directions, tropical africa, savannah, conservation or south america

Africa, 2 sections

Tropical, chimps, followed by new exhibits for bongo, duiker, hippo and gorrillas. the gorrillas will be the current ostich exhibit, and behinb the asian highlands. a immersion trail of course, then opens up to africa.

africa savannah.

this can be accessed by the top of path1, or from the exit of the tropical africa. here an immerion african village opens to a large savannah, where the currnet giraffe and rhino are, all one area, except up one end will be rhino. lions and small aniamls will occupy a kjope which is currently the hippos, sun bears, tapir and the old bulinding above the taronga food market. we exhit back at top of path A.

South america,

all teh species glyn mentioned earlier, plus tapir, peccaries, manned wolves. will be current islands facility, with alligators, leading all the way down top orang exhibit, which will be converted or bulldozed. also covers the aivaries currnetly there.

conservation thetre, otherwise known as odds and ends bin. covers reptile house, koala walk. koals will be replaced buy a conservation cenytre, which will ahve rare and endagered species, plus a visiting exhibit section, which houses visiting aniamls of conservation significane. here we will ahev the condors, lemurs and other aniamls misplaced by new exhibits.

Back to heart of zoo on same path.

Path B

Asia, food court, great southern oceans.
a path leads to current new stuff, and also to new asia section 1, with higlands on end.

NEw section 1, oppsed to new section 2, which is new bull facilities.

section1 will be sun bears, and tigers, we know where, new avairy, and new small cats exhibit, all in place of tortices, condors etc all dicussed previously. dhole also.

then opens to highlands, which will house snow leopards, thar, red pandas and pheasants, other aniamals any suggestions, this covers current exhibits, plus those across road, ie, peccaries, maeerkats.

another small road leads to bird theatre, this is also an option buildning new bird facilities, including a new condor aivary.

also the great southern oceans from here
new asia section 2. current gorrillas will be a new orang, complete with online in to wild asia, and section1 of new asia. reaching across to gung, who will have a new exhibit. this precint will also house the gibbon island, and new asian species, such as small cats, relocted from cats of asia near b2b.

to be continued path c

Ages

I dont know why its so important to zooboy , but for everyones benefit , lets just say that I was born in the early 1960s .
All of us have something to contribute to this forum as we are all interested in zoos and conservation , irrespective of other minor issues , where we should be able to "agree to disagree" It doesnt matter if we are 17 or 70 , as we will all be a year older in a years time .
I repect those of you on this forum who are alot younger than I am , it is your forum as much as it is mine .
And I am not ashamed to say that Zooboy has a lot more zoology knowledge than I have -- thats cool by me . I love reading and discussing zoo and conservation matters .

hay guys

we dont care how old we are, as long as we contribute, im sorry to bring it, it was very random, dont know how we got on topic, o well, bakc to taronga, hows my masterplan, any additions?

spider monkeys are going in orangs exhibit(orangs arent on the map) weird

HA HA HA - i was joking Zoo_Boy! actually having a friendly dig at you for asking those same questions (and being answered them) about 3 times before it sunk in!!!
