I thought they only partitioned the wallace aviary, and that some of it is still used for south east asian birds?
 
The reptile house will be reopened on December 19th after an electrical and heating re-fit.
 
Nice, baby rhino iguanas! Will be visiting between xmas and new year hopefully, maybe I'll see them :p
 
Some interesting species like young Annam leaf turtles, amethistyne python and now rhino rock iguana hatchings (they are already listed in ISIS as 17 (not bred, so it may have been 6 mo. back ...).
 
I saw the rhino iguana babies the other day, insanely cute :D Never saw the baby pythons though, I guess they're off show.
I whole house has new UV and heat lighting, and I think they've added flourescent tubes above the vivs to make them brighter for visitors, they certainly seem lighter. There's also more plants and rocks in some of the vivs, it just looks a lot newer on the whole.
 
Bristol has a new website.

It's very bright and you can choose your own colour scheme.

Most interestingly there is a subsite on the National Conservation park with pdfs of the planned exhibit areas featuring some designs and basic plans.

I've only had a quick look but it's interesting to note that planned species include golden monkeys...

Black rhino are also mentioned for the Tanzania savannah, and an okapi breeding centre, away from the Congo forest exhibit
 
Had a look at the new site, the national conservation park looks like exciting stuff. Will be interesting to know where they are going to source some of the species from such as the golden monkeys.

Other notable species on the plans include wattled crane, brown and sloth bear, bonobos, manatee, wolverine, bengal and sumatran tiger, sumutran orangs, gharial, indian and black rhino, banteng, okapi and giraffe.

Some interesting mixed exhibits too such as brown bear and timber wolf, sloth bear and hanuman langur and agile gibbon with sumutran orangs.

Im sure this isnt the final full list of species through, as nothing will be quite written in stone. Especially due to funding issues that may result in the project taking a good few years to commence yet.

There clearly has already been some changes as animals listed in the key of the drawings are different to the (very small) lables on the plans (e.g. snow leopard in key and amur leopard on the map.) Will be interesting to see what happens and how the project develops over time.

The list seems to have got bigger and more expansive- 2 rhino species, 2 Tiger species etc. as you said, its not set in stone but indications are it would really be something to see. And I am sure Bristol will do the thing extremely well too. The only problem is the commencement date and the whole thing becoming reality.

I reckon that there are a multitude of problems, but they all boil down to one big one - money. The same is probably true for the expensive plans on the drawing boards at Chester and Edinburgh.

Just had a read through the PDFs. IF Bristol manage to realise their plans for this park it will be one exciting place to visit. Personally, I thought the Costa Rica Swamp House sounded the most exciting. Manatees & American Crocs! Fantastic.
