At one stage Taronga Park (Sydney) Zoo weren't going to breed more Gorillas until they could selectively breed for females, but I think this research is still in its infancy. It would help the current problem enormously. But does it then lead to ethical problems, particularly as it would obviously then be possible in Humans too?

Bristol recently celebrated the birth of a Goeldi's marmoset.
Blimey, what would they do if an Okapi gave birth? Go on a three day bender?
It did, they didn't mention it! Sadly it didn't survive.
