Bristol Zoo (Closed) Bristol Zoo news 2015

The wallaby walkthrough opened for a soft opening this last weekend. There are 1.2 Yellow-footed Rock wallaby and 5.0 Parma wallabies. So far there are only the plovers for birds - others will be added later.

After two or three years of animatronic dinosaurs this summer Bristol has a display of giant animatronic invertebrates.

Going to the zoo tomorrow and was wondering what the food is like there? Is it worth going to the restaurant or just get a sandwich in Clifton first? Thanks :)

Expensive (as you'd expect) but always seems to be good quality and very tasty

Well, I can now recommend the battered fish :)

One of the yellow-footed rock wallaby has a joey, saw it peeking out from the pouch a few times. Really lovely animals!

The female arrived pregnant from Tierpark Berlin which was a surprise for Bristol - two for the price of one!

In fact 37 have been bred before at London zoo from 1865-1894

They went onshow a week or so after arrival; the joey was apparently in-pouch before they ever arrived!

so they arrived about four or five weeks ago then? Given the size of that joey there is no way it could have been considered a "UK first breeding" even if London hadn't bred them in the 1800s.

The drill have a very young baby as too do the pudu. There are Bearded Pygmy Chameleons (Rieppeleon brevicaudatus) on show in the reptile house. The wallaby walkthrough now has Wonga pigeon and Crested Pigeon on show.
