@Ned I wonder when you will be able to view the Gorillas and Lions at Wild Place? I hope the new enclosures for both species is being built as we type,so that there is not a time when we cannot see these flagship species at iver Zoo.
@Ned when the current Bristol Zoo closes will the old Zoo buildings be demolished brick by brick and reassembled at Wild Place? @Ned I will be very sad when the Clifton site closes for the final time. Due to this I would be delighted to see the old Zoo psychically at the Wild Place. Even if the actual buildings are no relocated I hope the animal houses are built as replicas to those that have housed animals in Clifton for decades. I also hope that the Wild Place has Elephants,Tigers,Orangutans and Polar Bears. I predict that certain species such as the Butterflies and some of the Birds will not reside at Wild Place.
Any idea when the Elk/moose died?
Most of the buildings at the Clifton site are intended to be converted to (human) housing. The plans reported at the time of the announcement made it sound like the old zoo layout would mostly remain as green space around the new housing. The entrance building is being retained by the zoo to use as education space and a base for the Avon Gorge conservation project. If any whole building were moved to Wild Place I would be astonished, but Bristol has a history of incorporating little fragments of the past into the modern zoo (the old bear pole outside the aquarium, or the gorilla cage fronts incorporated into garden structures) so there could be a bit of that kind of thing.
@Maguari I never knew that the former Gorilla enclosure/cages were still within the Zoo as garden structures. Can I see a photograph please?
Has anybody seen Gorilla Kera since the lockdown finished on the 12th of April?
I hope she's Ok, but I haven't seen her the last 2 times I visited. The whole family was out multiple times, but no sign of Kera.@sloggervlogger why do you ask,is Kera unwell?
Nope...
Ditto.Nope...
That’s your term, not theirs. I’d guess they haven’t visited since the reopening. What up @Gigit and @Pertinax why cant you answer @sloggervlogger's question, I thought that you were both the Ape experts of Zoochat?
Tried that first, but they haven't come back to me.That’s your term, not theirs. I’d guess they haven’t visited since the reopening.
If you contact Bristol Zoo themselves you’d be more likely to get an answer.
I can't answer it because I don't know the answer, its as simple as that. I don't have any inside access to what is going on with their gorillas. What up @Gigit and @Pertinax why cant you answer @sloggervlogger's question, I thought that you were both the Ape experts of Zoochat?
