Anyways, Paignton and co win 33-16 in terms of species, and 21-4 if one cancels out duplicates.
'Wild Planet Trust', IMHO an insult to the memory of Herbert Whitley. Probably not as daft as 'The King of Zoos', which is how they were trying to style themselves a few years ago. Don't get me wrong, I love those collections, just don't entirely appreciate some of the mumbo jumbo.Another one where I fear the margin may be the conversation, rather than the result. Primates.
I already forget what godawful name they’ve given the collective of Paignton, Newquay and Living Coasts, but remember that you’re considering all three here.
Now home to 1.1 Gentle Lemur.Allen's Swamp Monkey enclosure (not sure if still around)

Much as I love Paignton, I think Jersey's enclosures have the edge.Wow Jersey's enclosures look good! I'm tempted to vote 2-2 but I will wait until I see what Paignton's enclosures look like.
Jersey continues to do ground breaking work on the husbandry of those two tamarin species. Gentle Lemurs are more or less in a natural setting, and it's wonderful to see Aye-aye outside.Having been to both, Jersey’s outdoor exhibits quite frankly decimate Paignton’s. The only outdoor exhibit I can think of that’s better at Paignton is their lemur one, but even then their ring-tailed lemur/red ruffed lemur island is phenomenal.
The gorilla indoors at Paignton is better than Jersey’s for sure, and whilst their orangutan indoors is bigger in terms of floor space I do like the height and overhead tunnels incorporated into Jersey’s. The orangutan islands at Jersey are better than Paignton’s, but the gorilla island at Paignton is roughly equal to Jersey’s I would say. Paignton’s large monkey house is admittedly better than Jersey’s Sulawesi macaque house, but again Jersey come through with a lovely outdoor exhibit with plenty of foliage.
To top it off their callitrichid husbandry is insane - as can be seen by their large numbers of black lion tamarin and pied tamarin. And their Alaotran gentle lemur and aye-aye enclosures are great too.
Paignton put up a good fight, hence me giving them a bonus, but Jersey for sure deserve the 2-1 here.
though Jersey has one real rarity (black lion tamarin)
