Quite a large range of potential avenues of discussion to start off - BIRDS.

Enclosures, exhibitry, past and current glories, collection, husbandry...... let's get discussing the relative merits of the two collections shall we?

Considering I don't really even remember anything about birds from Twycross apart from the infamous Australian aviary, whereas I remember Paignton having a lovely bird garden, an excellent diversity in their rainforest and desert houses, and a series of other aviaries spread around the grounds all on top of a great collection, my vote will go all in for Paignton atm. That said, I can't say I'm pleased that they've failed so much will my beloved adjutant storks :(

Not even needing to consider the potential strengths of Newquay and (if including it) Living Coasts then :P

Well I have not visited either but I don't think I have ever heard anyone even mention the birds of Twycross, while on the other hand I have heard quite a bit about Paignton. My vote goes to them but I can be swayed.

We've counting the entire zoological society? That just seems a little unfair to Twycross :p

Someone needs to read both the original thread posted by @CGSwans and the new one posted by myself ;) the contest includes six zoological societies (ZSL, RSZZ, Whitley, Aspinall, ZSEA and Bristol) and six stand-alone collections (Colchester, Dublin, Marwell, Twycross, Jersey and Cotswold), split across two groups with three societies and three stand-alone in each.

I've edited the thread title and vote categories to make this clear.

I don’t want to be pedantic, and I’m not really a participant in these threads anyway so maybe I should just butt out, but why does Dublin stand alone rather than alongside Fota under the Zoological Society of Ireland umbrella?

I'm not exactly certain which interpretation @CGSwans intends, actually - as it is indeed a zoological society but its inclusion would mean a 7/5 split rather than 6/6. Hopefully he can shed a little light on this one himself?

And your input is always valued, so don't feel the need to steer clear!

This was a mea culpa moment from the first go-around: I simply forgot Fota existed when initially doing the draw. It should definitely be relevant to Dublin. Luckily I don't think it has a material impact on the draw as it already stands, and there was nothing intrinsically important about there being an equal mix of combined and standalone collections anyway.
