Yes I heard the same.
We have to drop the 'red' & 'yellow' term and look at their characteristics. There are a lot of locale, type, and former subsp. of Varanus acanthurus & cousins like baritji. There's also a lot of captivite blending and mixing where no one knows their butt from their elbow. Most of the Oz guides don't consider them subspecies. No more Varanus acanthurus acanthurus & Varanus acanthurus brachyurus. Just the localities where the types originate from. Unless you are in Oz and seen\caught the animal in question, it is a guessing game. So they're just Varanus acanthurus.
The mixing of V.t.o. and V.a. sounds like a recipe for disaster. I hope they're the same size or else someone will get consumed. Yes, that does happen. Worse is they get picked on and stressed out and die. Cage aggression is a real thing. Given the fact this is a 'Zoo box' there is no proper way to escape from sight. They need mass! To escape and burrow away. Their own 'home' if you will. Yes, a burrow\tunnel is a home. Being a 'Zoo box' they won't have proper mass to evade prying eyes.
The exhibit will have Varanus komodoensis, Varanus mertensi, Varanus macraei, Varanus trisits orientalis and Varanus acanthurus.
If you do want to go into ssp the signage reads V. a. brachyurus. Just saying

What species are currently in the Zoo Center Building ? White Rhinos, Babyrusa, Malayan Tapir ?

Just the Southern White Rhinos are on-show. The babirusa and tapir are displayed on the monorail (babirusa) and in JungleWorld (tapir) so their outdoor enclosures are being converted into outdoor Aldabra Giant Tortoise and Komodo Dragon ones.
I've documented over 440 species at Bronx, a few of which have since left the collection. As things commonly alternate between on and off-show, the number is probably much higher, especially when counting off-show only species.

I believe so. Only five zoos in Europe have them.
It'll be the zoo's third rare species to currently occupy that aviary. The other two being the Guanay Cormorants and the new Flying Steamer Duck.

Do they keep the Pelicans indoors ? Hopefully, they have an outdoor enclosure or aviary.

-The zoo keeps the American white and brown pelicans inside of the aquatic birdhouse for the winter, but I am unsure of the summer. The Peruvian pelicans will be in a huge fully outdoor aviary.

Are there still Babirusa and tapirs at the Zoocenter, or are the White Rhinos are now the last"pachyderms"there ? Can the White Rhinos be seen indoors ?
As mentioned the Peruvian Pelicans will be in a large outdoor aviary. I've only ever seen the American White Pelican and the Brown Pelicans indoors, though.
The zoo's North Sulawesi Babirusas are only on display on the Wild Asia Monorail and the Malayan Tapirs only in JungleWorld. The old babirusa enclosure is being turned into an outdoor Komodo Dragon enclosure and the old tapir one being renovated for 1.1 Aldabra Giant Tortoises. The zoo's 2.0 Southern White Rhinos can be seen both indoors and outdoors.

Will a new outdoor area be built for the pelicans? Where will it be located? Or are they replacing a species in an already-existing exhibit/being added to an already-existing exhibit?
As stated several times earlier, the new pelicans will be in the existing Sea Bird Aviary alongside the Inca Terns, Magellanic Penguins, Guanay Cormorants, and Flying Steamer Duck.
