Bronx Zoo Bronx Zoo 2015

Sorry I was gone for 3 weeks, I was busy and my uncle was sick so I just had no time, but for anyone wants me to update something about the zoo then just ask me and I'll try to remember.

Alright I am going tomorrow. Any last minute requests?

Can you check on the gorillas and geladas
Check the WoB and WoR nurseries
Check for any other babies
And if anyone knows, are the flamingos in the Children's zoo from one of the flocks at the zoo or did they come from another facility?

I assume you will be taking pictures in the Children's Zoo of the new exhibits, but if not please do so.
Just check Madagascar for the one exhibit that used to have the ghost geckos and see if mouse lemurs are in there. I swore I saw them last month, but whatever was in that exhibit moved around so fast I could not tell.

It is part of the CV Starr Science Campus. From WCS website The LaMattina Wildlife Ambassador Center will play a vital role in WCS’s educational priorities; housing the animals we use in our education program and providing people the opportunity to experience animals up-close as they learn about wildlife and the threats they face around the world. The expanded Wildlife Health Center will enable us to continue the tradition of providing the highest level of medical support for animals in our care. We thank our supporters for making these facilities a reality.” It opened in October 2012.

sorry for the late message if you get this the Quetzal in the WOB also the aardvarks. I was informed of a Red Panda by the mouse house by the Bronx zoo in an email I never saw this before.

If you read back through this thread a bit you'll see that there are indeed Red Pandas outside the Mouse House. They've been there for quite some time now though not sure why.

Semi off topic but for those that have been to all NYC Zoos/Aquariums how would you rank them? After visiting the Central Park zoo today I have to say I was extremely disappointed although the polar circle was outstanding felt the rest was sub par.I would have to say Bronx of course by a long shot then Staten Island(vastly underrated especially for Ratite fans such as me) followed by Central Park.Still have to visit queens and prospect park along with the aquarium.

I am afraid that I will either upload these pictures today/tomorrow or in the beginning of August as on July 1 I will be going to sleepaway camp. Sorry guys!

Sorry for the delay everyone

Gorillas and geladas doing better than ever
Didn't see any mouse lemur
Didn't check on WOB nursery
Couldn't figure out babies from WOR
I never knew they had nile crocs in WOR
Gaur baby on monorail
All tamarins and marmosets by mouse hous(There was white faced saki monkey, however)
Finally saw Maxwell's duiker!
No lesser kudu

1) Was there any signage or anything?

2) The WOR nursery has signage saying the species there...

3) There's been a Nile Crocodile in the same enclosure next to the False Gharials for as long as I can remember.

4) Which species of tamarins/marmosets?

~Thylo:cool:

1) No signage at all

2)Nope

3)This one looks different than the ones at Madagascar!

4)Silvery marmoset, lion, lion headed, geoffroys, and one more that escapes me.

1) Shame that.

2) That wasn't a question. There's always signage for the babies.

3) It's smaller, yes. What did you think it was?

4) Geoffroy's Marmoset or Tamarin? And what did the last one look like?

~Thylo:cool:

2)I didn't see it then

3)I think I just alwyas passed it to see the false gharials. Or maybe I have always seen it and just ignored it

4) Can't remember at all

5)Why are we talking like this?;)

Interesting to see some changes. I have never seen the gazelles in the main nyala exhibit; unless they were only in the small side yard where the duiker were earlier this summer.

Last summer they had silvery marmosets, goeldi's monkey, golden lion, cotton top, white face saki and bolivian grey titis. I am glad they brought the monkeys back out.

What did you think of the Children's Zoo? How was the new signage? I know they paid a local artist to redo them and they did some remodels along with several new species.

Were the pelicans still inside the Aquatic Bird House?
