Bronx Zoo Bronx Zoo - Did this Flamingo/Monkey exhibit exist

Just starting out here so I'm hoping I'm posting in the right place, but I'm having trouble finding evidence that this mixed exhibit ever existed and need some Bronx regulars to help me out.

A couple years ago when I went to the Bronx Zoo, maybe Summer 2017 if I remember right, one of the exhibits that stuck with me to this day was a mix of American Flamingos and Squirrel Monkeys. The Flamingos had a pretty sizeable pond to roam through, and strewn about the pond were climbing frames for a group of Squirrel Monkeys. I remember it being at the Children's Zoo section, the Fennec Foxes were around and there was a farm area close by.

I could've sworn I took pictures for reference back in the day, but I guess they're lost to time with my old phone. I wanted to see if it was still there back in Summer 2022, but didn't have time to check. I tried looking up anything on the Flamingos or Squirrel Monkeys at the Bronx but it all lead back to ones in different exhibits. Was hoping anyone who maybe frequents the zoo over the last six odd years knows what I'm talking about or can confirm it even existed.

The squirrel monkeys do live in the Children’s Zoo and they do have an exhibit on an island with climbing frames in the middle of a pond. I don’t remember them sharing the pond with flamingos though. The zoo should have two other flamingo exhibits- one near the cafe and one near the aquatic bird house.

Wow, that seems like a pretty memorable mix so I’m surprised I forgot it exists. I usually skip the Children’s zoo, so that would explain it. It’s interesting to consider that this means the Bronx would have 3 flamingo exhibits, though.

They also probably haven't been out much the last couple of years because of flu, too. I wish they would have either of the rarer-in-the-USA species!

I remember from watching their TV show that they had Southern Screamers as well, do they still have this species in here?

This definitely exists, I saw it myself last year. At least at the time though, I’m pretty sure it was American flamingos that were kept in the pond.
