Is it ostrich due to them being under the shadow of the giraffes but being unique due to them being largest bird?
Nope.
It may help to clarify that, if you read my original hint closely, you'll see that the species living in the shadow of the giraffes and the unique species (which is the species you're guessing for) are two different species.
