Bronx Zoo Bronx Zoo News 2025

The gray mouse lemur was taken off exhibit as was the Amur leopard, the guanay cormorant passed on a few years ago and I believe the anhinga may have passed. Unsure about the rest.
Oh, I didn’t know that. What’s going to take the place of the gray mouse lemur? I heard the clouded leopard will replace the Amur leopard though as that exhibit is on the smaller side for an Amur leopard.

When I last visited, there was a Henkel's leaf-tailed gecko.

Hopefully the zoo puts clouded leopards in JungleWorld once these renovations are finished!

They had a leaf tailed gecko in the mouse lemur exhibit a few days ago. They also had tomato frog in the first tank after the nile crocodile.

Oh, I didn’t see the gecko, but it might have been hiding. I must’ve missed the tomato frog.

Also, there are no more crowned lemurs. The only lemurs on display now are Coqurel’s sifaka(first exhibit), ring-tailed and collared(spiny forest exhibit) and red-ruffed(last exhibit.) What happened to the crowned lemurs?

Ok

Ok, thanks. I forget what exhibit were they previously in?

Is there any more news on when WOD is reopening? Last I’ve heard it was just known as “summer 2025” and I am hoping to visit this summer and I would much rather see this magnificent zoo in its full glory.

A very cold day today at the zoo. So cold that the only animals I saw in an outdoor habitat were a few bird species, the bison, the Pere David's deer, and the sea lions. Some minor observations/updates:

-The damaraland mole rat exhibit in the mouse house has been emptied with an "under construction" sign placed in one of the windows. I wonder if this too will be a species we see in World of Darkness... still no signage for the pouched rat
-Not sure if mentioned before, but there are two painted storks (I only knew of one in there before) in the African spoonbill habitat in the aquatic bird house - the first exhibit just past the puffins
-There are a few adolescent scarlet ibises to be seen in the aquatic bird house
-Saw some keepers checking out the old leopard habitat in Jungleworld. Hoping we see something in there soon!
-Not much of an update, but was cute to see a pair of the Asian small-clawed otters enjoying some time in the ebony langur habitat for the afternoon (langurs were off habitat). They do this sometimes in the evenings to give the otters a fun change and some more area to explore
