All I heard was the guide saying something about sloth bear cubs but I did not here the rest of the sentence. So he could be talking about the zoo trying to breed them or that cubs have been recently born.
 
Sloth bears Hani and Kartik have indeed produced some cubs! According to a video I was watching on youtube from a zoo fan riding the tram, the cubs (not sure how many were born, I'm guessing two) were born a month ago. Also, Jasiri, one of the zoo's female giraffes, is due to give birth any day now.

It is a new family exhibit located where the children's zoo was. Don't exactly know for sure what will be featured in that new exhibit but I may go to the zoo next weekend and will try to find some information.
 
Brookfield Zoo just got back to me via email saying that the sloth bear cubs should be out by Memorial Day, if not sooner.
 
Brookfield Zoo shall remain closed today April19 due to extensive flooding across the Chicagoland area.The Zoo hopes to reopen Saturday.

Brookfield Zoo will reopen tomorrow with free admission (there will still be a parking fee) but some exhibits will still be closed.
 
I recently accepted a zookeeper internship position to work in Tropic World. Once I start working there this summer I would be happy to keep everyone updated on recent Brookfield Zoo news.

Congratulations BlackRhino! Hopefully its paid. Too many places looking for free work nowadays. I assume you'll be working with a lot of apes when you're there.
 
Australia House is currently closed while the zoo updates the buildings utilities. It's suppose to reopen in 4 weeks.

Thanks everyone! I agree, Chicago is one of the best cities for zoos. Brookfield is one of my personal favorite zoos so I am pretty excited to be working there. I will definitely keep everyone updated on everything going on there.
 
Hudson and Anana have been seperated for the breeding season (their last day together was Saturday, April 27th) and she was introduced to Aussie on Monday.
