Some news from my latest visit to the zoo.
The Living Coast- the jamaican boas are on exhibit in the the old chinchilla exhibt. Also, the zoo has added 3 additional leopard sharks to the big tank, bringing the total to 5 leopard sharks.
Habitit Africa The Forest!- The red river hogs were back in their old exhibit, also yellow backed duiker were in the old forest buffalo exhibit.
Habitat Africa The Savannah!- The indoor exhibits are currently closed while a new roof is being installed. Also the african wild dog exhibit is under construction, however the african wild dogs are now on exhibit in what is normally the mexican gray wolfs off exhibit habitat. Also the zoo had it's african spurred tortosies on exhibit with the giraffes.
I also had a conversation with a zookeeper by babbon island. He said the zoo has plans to begin construciton on replacing babbon island this fall. He said the zoo plans on completely demolishing the old exhibit, rasing it to eye level, and then building a completely new exhibit for hamadryas baboons.
Construction is set to begin on the new exhibit replacing the old children's zoo this fall.
