The zoo just released some stuff about Amazing Arachnids, including a list of live species that will be exhibited:
Chicago Zoological Society - Amazing Arachnids
Amazing Arachnids sounds like a fantastic temporary exhibit!
An article about it:I completely agree. Honestly from how it sounds I wouldn't mind this becoming a permanent attraction. One of the most unique exhibit concepts I have ever heard!
If you can’t make it, I’ll be there SaturdayHoping to make a trip soon and will try to report on where the salamanders are if I happen to stop by the Swamp.
The magazine noted the four salamanders were acquired as juveniles intercepted from wildlife smugglers, and there was fear they were exposed to disease preventing their release in the wild.
I will be working all weekend but I will stop by to visit the salamanders. If you can’t make it, I’ll be there Saturday![]()

What about the kookaburra exhibit? This happened a few weeks ago but went unreported here: the Laughing Kookaburras have moved to the former finch exhibit in Australia House, while the finches have moved to an off exhibit space in Tropic World.
It's currently empty. I'm personally hoping for Australian owls. What about the kookaburra exhibit?
