I'm from Chicagoland and i go to Brookfield zoo a lot. I volunteered over the summer in their Youth Volunteer Corps(YVC).

I thought about mentioning some news going on

(1)Of course, Great Bear Wilderness is comin. There will be the the Polar Bear breeding pair Arki and Aussie along with their 3-year old son Hudson, who will be housed separately from his parents and the Kodiak Bear brothers Axhi and Jim comin from Bear Grottos, The Bison herd from 31st street yards consisting of the bull Ron, the 3 cows Drew, Judy, and Becky plus 2 10-month old female calves that came in from Wildlife Prairie Park in Peoria(The cows are going to be taken off birth control), Leah the Bald Eagle from Children's Zoo, and Common Ravens will be there. Wolf Woods will be connected
(2)Stingray Bay will be comin back
(3)31st street yards also got in a new female Addax from Busch Gardens Tampa and she will join the main herd comprising 3 females Martha, Tina, and Aretha plus the male Winston. Coming soon to the zoo in a few months will be 2 20-year old Przewalski's Horses from Minnesota Zoo, i believe a stallion and a gelding
(4)2.2 African House Snakes arrived. I believe they're all goin to be housed separately from each other. I dunno where they will be housed at.
(5)At Fragile Desert, there's a meerkat pup or two living with the parents, the 3 male relatives of the dad, and the female relative of the dad. I'm pretty sure the other meerkats that are not the parents are contracepted. Also, a new young female Caracal arrived from the Gulf Breeze Zoo. However, she will not join their old male Leo. She will be Leo's replacement when he dies.
(6)There's the sad news about Christy the Elephant's death.
(7)A yearling male giraffe calf is coming eventually from either Kansas City Zoo, Sedgwick County Zoo, or Tanganyika Wildlife Park to become a future breeder bull. This will happen once the zoo's yearling male calf Jawara is sent out. The male coming in will join the 4 females Arneita, Jasiri, Franny, and Mithra forming a breeding herd
(8)At Tropic World:Africa, they're looking for a female mandrill or two to join the male Onyx since the 2 females he was with before passed away. They want Onyx to breed and he hasn't had any offspring yet
(9)2 of the outdoor yards at Australia House will be welcoming a mob of around 30 Red-Necked a.k.a Bennett's Wallabies who will share the 2 yards with a Gray Kangaroo mob of a male, 4 females, and the joeys of the year plus the 2 male Emus Dil and Turkey. The wallabies will probably breed like crazy.
(10)Feathers and Scales will reopen eventually
(11)The Dolphins Tapeko, Noelani, and Allison will be comin back in the early summer from their temporary stay at the Minnesota Zoo. I think more are comin to the zoo
