Onychorhynchus coronatus

Out of curiosity does anyone know whether the brown howler monkey (Alouatta guariba) is currently being kept in any of the European zoos ?

I think that Jersey zoo may have (or did have) long term plans to keep this species and I believe there are zoos in Belgium and the Netherlands that currently keep it but that is literally all I know regarding the status of this animal in European collections.

Thanks for your comments!

Only A. seniculus and A. caraya are currently kept in Europe, the latter most commonly (e.g. Jersey).

Thank you for your comment lintworm!

What a shame ! The ex-situ conservation of the brown howler monkey could definitely benefit from being held by more zoos abroad and especially with the situation regarding yellow fever here in Brazil.
