Brush Turkey minimisation/mitigation ...

OK ...

So I live in a rural area, with the house surrounded by trees/bush. No worries.

But, I've got basically a constant population of 6-12 brush turkey's around the house, on a regular basis. Brush turkey's are a protected species, so, basically I'm not allowed to do anything.

Pretty frustrating, cuz they have a way of breaking/relocating/messing things up.

Any suggestions on how to get rid of em, without harming, on a limited budget?
 
OK, was talking to someone today.
He suggested:
Wind chimes.
Spray: lemon/lime/chilli.
Statues of other birds, like, Eagles, owls, roosters, whatever.

Dunno, I'll start chipping away at it over the next month or two. Open to suggestions tho.

Can think of a few other cheap/easy way to deal with the rats with wings. Not allowed tho. 'Protected species'. Even trapping & relocating them is deemed 'harming' them. Need a special licence for it and if ya get that licence, you can only get rid of 2.

I've got about a dozen to deal with.
Open to suggestions ...

Looks like if they were not protected the ‘rats with wings’ would be wiped out pretty quickly. While we watch the government in the U.K. altering laws that protect native wildlife in favour of house builders, some other places appear to have more sense.
 
Inherited Dad's property.
He's always had a population of Turkey's floating around.
Frustrating, very messy, inconvenient.

Went outside to do something, came back & a Turkey had entered the house, as I entered, it panicked, jumped & few through a window to vacate.

But I'm not allowed to do anything, just fix the window, prevent it from happening again.

Dude, they'll go through rubbish/litter/whatever and just scatter all over the place and **** on everything.

Very frustrating creatures.

If/when you get permission to get rid of em, you can only get rid of 2.

So thought I'd be able to get game control/management/council to trap/relocate them.
Nah, that’s deemed harmful.
So ya need to get permission to do so.
And if/when doing so, you can only remove 2 rats with wings.

Frustrating ...

Yeah, pretty much.
Not allowed tho.
Gotta invest time, money and effort into encouraging the rats with wings to stay away from the house.

Pretty frustrating.

Yeah, I get it, to a certain extent, cool.

But, constantly moving things, messing things up, **** on everything, breaking windows.

There's a limit ...

I'd much prefer it if these magnificent birds took their glory elsewhere. At least 50-100 metres away from my house.

From my (admittedly not terribly scientific) understanding, the chil(l)i probably won’t work. Additives derived from hot peppers are used in some wild bird seed on the North American market specifically to deter squirrels and other mammals without affecting its attractiveness to birds, which in general apparently aren’t sensitive to capsaicin (at least in terms of taste).

If you do end up buying a statue or two I'd suggest moving it from time to time or the turkeys could soon learn that if it doesn't move from a spot it may never move.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I'm thinkin of doing.
Just getting statues of Eagles, Haws, Owl's set up around the house as 'bouncers'.

Don't particularly like the idea of investing in sprays/ingredients on a regular basis to deal with 'rats-with-wings'.

Trying to do it the passive, simple way - just get them to avoid my house. Cuz I'm not allowed to 'remove' them. Pretty frustrating.
