A new zoo by Jatim Park group and Sinarmas Land group, supposedly opening later in 2024. It is being built at Bumi Serpong Damai, a township in Tangerang near Bintaro, popular for its malls and culinary destinations. The zoo will have an “Urban Zoo Safari Adventure” theme, which blends nature and modernity into one. Hoping this zoo will be as good as Jatim Park's other zoos (Batu Secret Zoo and Lembang Park & Zoo) and it seems that Jatim Park is catching up to Taman Safari's popularity and success, though unlike Taman Safari, Jatim Park doesn't just specialize in zoos.

Lembang Park Zoo is owned by different company/people than Batu Secret Zoo and both parks has no cooperation.

I have heard some rumors about how this park will looks like:
- it will has small animal museum same like Jatim Park.
- large indoor Desert house is planned.
- large 1 hectare aviary will cover South American zone for several water animals like tapirs, giant otters, capibara, Jaguar, manatees and several primates and big number of parrots
- African zone with drive through Savana section
- Indonesian zone with most charismatic Indonesian species
Reptile house and aquarium.

For me the most interesting are Desert house and manatees - time will show if this ambitious plans will be realized.

that's great! hope they acquire the brazilian porcupines (coendou prehensilis)

Very ambitious, not hoping that it went the Jakarta Aquarium route.

I really hope that they'll stay commited to conservation and animal welfare value, like Batu Secret Zoo and in some ways Taman Safari Indonesia. The premise sounds great, looks like it's inspired by Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo with the massive themed-exhibits.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Dairyland BSD's construction has been cancelled and left unfinished. There might be a possibility of BSD City Zoo's construction being cancelled as well. If it's true, then this very disappointing... :(

I hope the new developer builds a better zoo here, whoever it is. If not, there's already plenty of zoos in Jabodetabek (i.e Ragunan Zoo, Jagat Satwa, Faunaland, Aviary Park and the classic, Taman Safari Cisarua), and in BSD (well near it) has two The Nice parks and Jasmine Park (which sadly, until now has not opened their wild animal collection yet)

YouTube videos shows that Jasmine Park's animal section have partially reopened, the lack of content from the park is probably to avoid any eyes on their collection.

Do you have any clue if the main developer in charge of Dairyland BSD is the same as the BSD zoo? While their plans seems very ambitious (I.e manatees, desert house, and such), that doesn't exactly means guaranteed development hell depending on who's the developer (I'm aware that Jatim Park is involved).

I'd say, different developer means different outcomes.

I don't know who's the new developer sadly. Hopefully someone in Skyscraper City can clear this out.

Sinarmas Land themselves has revealed that BSD City Zoo (now called BSD Secret Zoo) is not cancelled and slated for a late 2026 opening. They also mentioned "desert, rainforest and river biomes" that was leaked by Fajar years ago. Looks like not all hope is lost, and they're probably relocating from their original construction site.

Cimory Dairyland BSD may be relocating as well after the original site was taken over by another developer.

"BSD Secret Zoo", huh? Well I hope that means there will be interests by the stakeholders to make this zoo similar (Or better) than the original "secret zoo" in Batu, with emphasis on rare local/exotic species, large conservation efforts, and largely modern exhibits. With how a lot of new Indonesian zoos and aquarias ended up becoming, you can only just hope for the bare minimum.

I can trust Jatim Park with their zoos, hopefully it'll be as great as the main Batu park and not some "edutainment" gobbledygook like Lembang Park and Zoo. If Fajar's leaks/rumors were to believe, it's going to be a pretty ambitious park with animals that are not in Indonesian zoos yet (IDK why Taman Safari's parks/aquaria or any of Jaya's aquaria like SWA. ODS or even BXSea refused to acquire manatees).

With an area of 10.9 hectares (smaller than Batu Secret Zoo, which is 12 hectares) and having 3 zones, I started to speculate about what the areas will be like.
1. Rainforest: contains animals native to Indonesia and Latin America, possibly accompanied by a herpetarium, nocturama, and aquarium (similar to Batu Secret Zoo).
2. River: contains large animals such as large carnivores, artiodactyls, and pachyderms (inspired by the Zambezi River or the Ganges River, I imagine), hopefully there will be a boat trail like in River Wonders Singapore to support the theme.
3. Desert: contains not only camels but also a herpetarium or nocturama containing animals from Africa, the Middle East, and North America.

Per Fajar's leaks/rumors, he said that BSD City Zoo will get a 1 hectare rainforest aviary for South American aquatic creatures (manattees, capybaras, giant otters, arapaimas and etc) and birds, probably like the Pangolin Dome in Taipei Zoo, a large indoor desert house (probably climate-controlled so it feels hotter inside) for various desert animals, a drive-thru African safari zone and an Indonesian zone (probably featuring famous local animals like orangutans, tigers and elephants), as well as a reptile house and an aquarium

So my prediction is:
  1. The Rainforest area includes the Amazon aviary, as well as the Indonesian zone and the aquarium
  2. The Desert area includes the desert house and reptile house, and probably the nocturama
  3. The River area will be the safari area, probably based on the Okavango Delta wetlands. Aside from the safari area, there might be standalone exhibits for other African animals, including primates from said continent like chimpanzees, lemurs and gorillas (per Fajar's rumor)

Just because there is already an Aviary Park in BSD, I think the collection of birds and invertebrates will be limited to the BSD City Zoo.
