All calves born since 2014 have been male.
Great news
The only zoo in South America with Somali wild ass? I'm getting more and more interested in this zoo.
According to a recent video they uploaded, the trio of Somali Wild Ass were all imported from France; the two females arrived in May 2017 and the male was received two years later. The recent foals have both been confirmed as females so the group comprises of five (1.4) individuals currently. Their group is managed under an EEP for this particular species.Very good news, Buin zoo did not have Somali ass , when I visited in 2017. The zoos of Chile are becoming more important among Latin American animal collections.
Good to know. Now we have to add those to the gibbon population in Latin America (if they haven't been added already).Buin Zoo got white-handed gibbons for what it seems, now living with the Bornean orangutan Sandai.

I wonder if a ex situ captive program would be worthwhile. No captive program for the moment, Buin Zoo has been working on Chiloe Island to conserve the fox species for the last 9 years.
