The bearded dragons used to be in the Pheasantry (combined with gouldian finches), but when visiting a week ago I couldn't find them and they weren't signposted anymore. I know they are not the most interesting species but the exhibit looks rather empty now with just a few finches.

Pretty sure there's skinks in the Pheasantry with the finches. unless that is not the enclosure you were talking about.

There used to be both skinks and bearded dragons together with the finches there.

Chuckwalla if still kept are behind the scenes (the last time they were before the scenes, they were in with the gila monsters). The rock squirrels are in the tunnel to the desert between the cotton rats and colorado toads.

And both were not signposted and nowhere to be seen last week. The bearded dragons are gone for some time now, the skinks were still there last year if I'm not mistaken.

The house geckos are also kept in the Bush. But due to their nocturnal nature and their love for warmth, they are rarely if ever seen by the public.

Also news: in the Mangrove there is already a few baby birds (Blue-black grassquit)
In the 'Zie-Zoo' (bi-monthly magazine of the zoo) they also said the Green Jays wont move to the Mangrove until the balance is made there.
Other dreams they have with the mangrove are: baby manatee, iguanas, frogs, zostera, and more mangrove bird species.

Wait, so they also dont have tapirs anymore? And will the species of hippo return?

Pretty sure not. They seem to be clearing out that area for new stuff (maybe?!)
But something I noticed is that the Mangrove exit has a tapir painting on the wall (Added when they were already gone from the park)
And the staff-carts also have a licenseplate: Tapir-1
So maybe they will make a return near the mangrove (as there is empty land there) but I don't know the masterplan of Burgers'

If they would be planning with tapirs around the Mangrove, they would plan with Baird's tapir, which is a flagship species for the Shipstern reserve they protect in Belize, on which the new Mangrove was based. I am in no way saying they are trying to import those, but if tapirs would play a role in their masterplan, it will be Baird's....

True, That is the species they had before right? But I think they will be clearing the old area first and maybe build new stuff later. I am just curious to see what their plan is for the next 5-7 Years!

Nope- they had lowland tapirs before. Hence the need to import Baird's- I believe the number left in Europe is now small enough to count on one hand!

On twitter they mentioned that 1.2 hog deer have left the collection for other zoos in Europe, they should still keep about 5 hog deer now.

Info from twitter on the deer i saw, but how did you know about the ants?
 
I would like to see something new on the hippo/tapir/warthog exhibits. And when i visited i saw some stuff happening next to the mangrove. So who knows?

Believe it's never been more than five or six at most anyhow.
