In their new enclosure in the Bush the Keeled box turtles ( Cuora mouhoti ) have already bred : sofar 2 young have been found and are now raised behind the scenes
They are not Keeled box turtles, Burgers' Zoo doesn't use the correct Dutch name. These are Asian leaf turtle (Cyclemys dentata), which is how they are listed by the zoo themself.

Burgers recieved a young male Spotted eagle-ray from Wroclaw Zoo and its planned he will become the new breeding-male at Arnhem.
The old breeding-male ( father of 39 young in the Ocean ) went together with his son to Den Bla Planet to be placed in the Eagle ray group already kept there.

Some notes from a visit yesterday:
- The Hanging parrots seem to have been removed from the Bush, as their signage was removed.
- Tw young Lion fish were introduced in the Lion fish tank, the Porcupine fish and the Epaulette shark have been moved to the first Lagune tank
- The Coral tank in the night section, is not a nocturnal tank anymore, as too many people ignored the tank, it is now lit during the day.
- A Gibbon was free-ranging in the Bush for a few hours, fortunately it was of the "Funky" type and could safely be removed after feeding it a beer.
- The Hanging parrots seem to have been removed from the Bush, as their signage was removed.

A 1.5 year old Sri Lanka leopard was placed on transport to the France zoo of Cerza :
Burgers has recieved a bull Banteng from Munich - Germany and althrough he is already 8 years old he has the looks of a Banteng-cow.
This because he wasn't allowed anymore to breed at Munich and therefor was given hormones - it was feared that he would breed with some of his 4 daughters with which he lived together at Munich.
At Burgers he won't recieve any hormones anymore so if time goes by he will get the male-look and has planned to become the new breeding-bull at Burgers.

Would not a simple separation and/or transfer have worked better?
I guess so but if the zoo doesn't have the place to seperate the animal long-therm, this could also a ( not-optimal ) solution.

Short clip about the release of this species. Only males were released in the big Manatee-pool because they should keep the populations of some other species under control but should themself not become the dominant species so breeding is not wished :
In an article about the annual Indonesian market in the Bush it was mentioned that in autumn 2020 they will start renovating the Bush restaurant. If I remember an interview with thw current director correctly, such a renovation would coincide with an overhaul of the bush (focusing on e.g. infrastructure). So this is likely the next larger investment. The Bush is now 31 years old and basically unchanged since the opening ( except for the roof cushions that were replaced 10 years ago).
