Busch Gardens Tampa Busch Gardens Notes and News

Is anyone aware of the park’s plans for its elephant program? I know they sent off Spike. Do they have any plans for the females? Is there talk of them discontinuing their program?

If I remember correctly, their youngest cow Karnaudi is 30+ and she has never had a calf so I’m assuming they have discontinued any previous breeding plans.

Visited this week on two separate days. Only two female Asian elephants were on exhibit each day. I asked an educator, and they said that new shade structure was introduced BTS and they were acclimating the other girls to the structure. I hope that is the case, but always a concern with such an elderly herd.

Interesting..they have five females so how come they only had two females on display each day?

Does anyone have any idea how many tigers they have now? I saw a reference online that said "at least 10", but how many of them are Malayan and how many are generic?

An relevant news nugget from my recent visit.

The parks Ground Cuscus is retired due to old age and is no longer on exhibit. I got this information from a keeper by Animal Connections. Its old habitat there is being updated for a new species, but not sure what it will be. I plan on posting an updated species list in the coming days.
