It now seems the Butterfly House is going ro be finished a lot later than i first said its looking like been October or November at the earliest, the site has now been cleared and the house is been built off-site.

Just thought you would like to know the house should be open to the public for the October half term week.

Thanks zoogiraffe. Any idea when the African walk through aviary is likely to be finsihed?

When I visited on Wednesday work had started on the African aviary site and the trees in the former lechwe paddock were being removed.

Intresting that they are clearing the trees in the old Lechwe paddock is i had heard that the Hornbill aviary was onhold, unless its in preparation of mother and baby rhino using the paddock as i believe they are going to use this paddock for their out door use.

Quick update on the Butterfly House it just about looking like it will open on the 25th October,if nothing goes wrong between now and then.

Spoke to keeper on 26th Oct - apparently Butterfly house opening date is: "possibly January". This is all the info she had time to give.

I was at the zoo on the 26th too. The external areas around the new house seem virtually complete;but the path along the canal bank is still closed so you can't get near enough to see what's happening inside.
