Auckland Zoo Bye-bye directors for Auckland Zoo?

Anybody here concerned about the proposed changes that would see Auckland Zoo loose it's director position? It seems you could end up with a director who's primary interest might be, say, ballet, but was also responsible for a range of other sports venues and art museums.

Whilst I can appreciated the desire to reduce duplication and cost, there is also a danger of any new CCO directors not having the depth of understanding necessary to effectively provide direction of an entity as unique as the Zoo.

Just a quick note. The changes to the CCO structure does not mean that the 'Director' of Auckland Zoo will be replaced. The changes relate to the current Zoo Enterprise Board - at least that it what I am assuming.
