A.K.A Mr Hornbill

Yes...most Americans do confuse Australia and Austria.

No....there are no hornbills in Australia and there possible never will be.

alas we have no hornbills in zoos and the wild distribustion of the family stops just shy of our mainland in papua new guniea (so close!!!)

Excuse me!! Some Americans paid attention during Geography class! I fuss at my grandchildren all the time to look at globes and maps. I volunteer at a kindergarten and bought them a huge book of maps that we look at nearly every week. I also found soft stuffed globes that I gave to the school and one sits on the back of my couch for the kids to explore. They love finding where their cousins in Texas live and where Grandma is traveling next! Make it fun and they will learn!!

Today, we visited the Alpen zoo. It was small, but I saw the wallcreeper. Only one in captivity I think.

I have also seen wild marmots and alpine choughs.

I'll write more when I get back, I'm on the hotel's computer so I have to pay.

as i know you are a huge fan of hornbills, as am i. therefore i am sure you know of the "raritaten zoo" in i believe a place called ebbs in austria which has a collection of around 9 species of hornbill including i think 2 pairs of the sulawesi red knobbed hornbill (my favourite) which have bred.

dont worry, im sure most americans think austria and australia are the same thing

whoa, who told you that most Americans think Austria and Australia are the same thing? I happen to know the difference between Austria and Australia, and I'm sure all Californians know where Austria is, as our Governor is Arnold Schwarzenegger...:D. Most Americans are not dumb, but you probably think we are since that beauty pageant chick...lol.

I met some people from Nebraska a year or two ago. They were pleased that I actually knew Nebraska from Alaska. They were going by train from Stafford to Glasgow and wanted to see the mountains. Apparently British mountains are taller than Nebraskan ones.

I hope you gain, excellent knowledge and have fun along the way while visiting these zoos, you are special like everyone on zoobeat good luck at summer school,
