Chester Zoo Cabot's Tragopan

Finally got to see this wonderfull Bird today but he just wouldn`t come out from under the bush so he could be photographed.

Yeah thanks Rob ive heard those tree trunks are really vicious but heard that their bark is worse than their bite

Roughly what time of day was this? A few of us were in that area this morning - still no show. I'm sure the bird seems me coming when I pass the giant otters.

About 1.30pm id say. it was only out for about twenty seconds then darted back into bushes

A female tragopan?! Damn, I've just been disguising myself as a female.

Thanks for the time Lee, it had been said that the tragopan was more showy in early morning, but that doesn't seem to be particularly reliable in practice.

Keepers told me the best time to see him was in the morning, but I expect it's trial and error, as with many species.
