On June 4th, the zoo announced they moved their red-crowned cranes from Exploration Asia to an exhibit next to the Wildlife Carousel.

On July 16th, the zoo announced they sexed the lemurs as (2.1) and named them Hazo (Malagasy for tree), Isalo (Isalo National Park in Madagascar), and Asara (Malagasy for rainy season), respectively.

On July 18th, the zoo announced they moved their (1.0) rough-legged hawk into the lynx exhibit temporarily until autumn.

On July 23rd, the zoo announced they moved a male (1.0) Bactrian camel named Stretch from their offsite Wildlife Conservation Centre to Exploration Asia on July 22nd.

On July 24th, the zoo announced that another southern bald ibis hatched, which was later named Mooi (after the Mooi River in South Africa).

On August 11th, the zoo announced they would transfer a female (0.1) black-and-white ruffed lemur named Sariaka to another unspecified facility in the upcoming weeks.

Some updates about where the animals went for the construction of Exploration Asia.
  • Flash the Japanese serow, moved behind the scenes to the Wildlife Conservation Center(WCC)
  • The four female Japanese macaques were relocated to a behind-the-scenes area near the Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary and Woodland Caribou exhibit in Wild Canada.
  • The person didn't know where Leika and Tadashi went. We presume they are at Parc Safari.
These were the remaining animals that we didn't know where they went. I would have loved Flash to move to Zoo Granby but maybe they are at capacity.

I'd be curious to see if Flash moves to an unsuspecting home such as Toronto. They have a few exhibits in Eurasia that could work (old yak exhibit near the entrance, the old chamois exhibit, old dhole exhibit). We'll see!

I dont think they will move him to another home but it would be great to see him at the Toronto Zoo.
They said that "Japanese serow, Flash, has officially moved offsite to the WCC and is no longer visible."

On August 21st, the zoo announced they sexed the penguin as male (1.0) and named it Lomas (after Puerto de Lomas, Peru).

On August 26th, the zoo announced they surgically removed one of Ok'takii's horns after the bison injured it earlier in the summer.

On September 11th, the zoo only mentioned 2 lapwings, Churchura and Hula, respectively, as having hatched in April 2025. It is not known if the 3rd chick Chari was transferred out, passed away, or some other possibility.

The calf waas named "Nyawa" according to the zoo's blog post.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has detected Avian Influenza near the zoo so in response they closed the rainforest aviary and the Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary, they moved all their birds indoor(some are not viewable)(Chilean flamingoes, ostrich, African grey-crowned cranes, greater rheas, whooping crane, red-crowned cranes, Dalmatian pelicans, and peacocks)
The indoor penguin exhibit will reopen tomorow but with more desinfective mesures.
There are no confirmed case of avian influenza in the zoo's bird collection.
