An iconic older individual rhino. He was much loved locally by the general zoo visiting public. Loved scratches and some foot. Was treated for senescence related ailments, including foot and hoof ... et cetera.

Technically, the remaining female is only 13 years of age as she was born in August 2010. I do hope the zoo will acquire new white rhinos ... (1.1+) and create a proper breeding group. Male Jabba was deemed too old to even breed. The AZA would like breeding from Ethel very much ..., so I do expect they will soon source at least a proven younger male and perhaps another cow.

Any further information on the size and outdoor / indoor of the exhibit?

On June 11th, the zoo announced they moved their (1.0) alligator snapping turtle into another space to create breeding room for their American alligators.

On October 5th, the zoo announced they will be opening the new Corwin, Estes, and Jaynes Education Center and the Carol Schmidhauser Veterinary Hospital to the public on October 25th.

Visited today, and the gerenuk were nowhere to be seen in the giraffe/kudu/stork African paddock. They were present earlier this year, mixed into the exhibit, but the visible outdoor pens attached to the paddock's barn were all also empty (where they had been held previously to incorporating them into the mixed exhibit).
 
2 yr old American Black Bear, Kenai, was euthanized following the discovery of cancer I'm several places including both kidneys. The cancer mass was determined to be inoperable. Shame to see such a young animal die, but for Kenai's health and comfort this was the best choice.
