There was an incident today involving the zoo's male white-tailed deer and two collared peccaries, and, unfortunately, the peccaries did not survive. From Facebook:
This afternoon we had an incident involving our male white-tailed deer and collared peccary which resulted in the death of the two collared peccary. Staff responded immediately to diffuse the situation and to come to the aid of the animals in distress. Unfortunately efforts to save them were unsuccessful. These animals have been successfully exhibited together for the past year and this is the first incident of this nature at Cameron Park Zoo. We appreciate your kind thoughts as staff mourns the loss of these animals that they cared deeply for.
