How good is the welfare of Canadian zoos. The Toronto zoo is near the top but many other zoos are to be thought about on their welfare. I may need help figuring out which zoos have the best welfare. Rated from 1-10 also please add reasons why. For me the biggest zoo in question is african lion safari I really don't know what to think of them. In the past they had elephant rides and a lot of desired improvement. Bu they are leading in technology focusing on breed endangered species. They are also accredited in CAZA but not the AZA. It bothers me to not know what to think of them. Please help! sorry if this is a burden or a stain on zoochat.
For example: Calgary zoo rating: 8.9
The calgary zoo is rated an 8.9 because of the high standards, SSPs and encouraging other zoos to become accredited. The zoo has a wide variety of species and is very ambitious when planning. They often achieve their projects with ease. The only reason I rated them 8.9 is because they have had many irresponsible keepers causing the deaths of an otter, a capybara and a hippo. The fact that the calgary zoo didn't fire some of the more irresponsible keepers prove my point. Overall the calgary zoo is an 8.9 moving to nine probably in the next few years.
Though the review doesen't have to be this long. I'm just happy if someone replies.
