I wonder why Cape mountain zebras are not found in zoos outside South Africa, unlike all the other zebra forms? South Africa does not prohibit export of animals.

Are there any currently in zoos within South Africa? I'm trying to locate some.
I know they've been kept in several places in the past but haven't found evidence of any currently.

Wouldn't part of the problem be that these animals have been rare for a large part of the past centuries, don't occur exactly close to a bigger harbour and the fact that in the time of massive hoofstock exports out of Africa they were confined to a country under Apartheid rule. It also seems a species that is not "farmed" as other S-African endemics like Bontebok/Blesbok and White-tailed gnu, which did find their way to the Northern Hemisphere.
