If I had a nickle for every time a New England zoo replaced their bears with birds of prey, I would have two nickles. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

On June 11th, the zoo announced they acquired a (0.1) lesser hedgehog tenrec named Emerald, which is an animal ambassador.

On July 1st, the zoo announced they sexed the sloth as female (0.1), and named it Sassafrass.

On July 30th, the zoo announced they acquired 2 striped skunks named Cletus and Pigpen from the Ohio Division of Wildlife after they were rescued from a fur farm, which are now on display in the Capron building.

On August 2nd, the zoo announced they acquired a (0.0.4) sugar gliders which are named Pancake, Waffle, & Churro, which are future animal ambassadors.

Sugar gliders are highly social, nocturnal, and are characterized by their patagium, which is their ankle-to-wrist membrane that allows them to glide. Although we haven't used them for programming yet, we are excited to add them into our rotation soon. Continue to keep an eye out for when these arboreal marsupials are ready for their debut!"

- Are the striped skunks in the former chinchilla, fennec fox, or woylie enclosure? Are there any plans for the other enclosure in Armor?
- Is the emu still in the enclosure next to the lion enclosure or are there different plans for it?
- Are any animals in the Katie's Garden/Ambassador Yard?
- Are the blue-winged amazons still in the zoo?
- The skunks are in the enclosure that the chinchilla was last in (he has been moved to behind the scenes) which was also the old fennec enclosure. There is a plan for the last empty space and hopefully will be filled this fall.
- The emu and sulcata tortoise are still next to the lion exhibit. They will remain there unless another exhibit became available for them. There have been some ideas for that space down the line but would require serious renovations.
- Right now the Red Ruffed Lemurs are in Katie’s Garden but will move inside when the temperatures get too cold. The hope is they will be back out on the island next year and Katie’s Garden can occupy a cold tolerant species that can live out there year round. The ambassador yard is only used to bring out animals during the day with a supervisor, no animals stay out there.
- There were two blue-fronted amazons that are no longer at the zoo. The female passed away and subsequently the male was sent to another zoo so he could be in a more social setting.

Does Capron Park Zoo still have blue fronted Amazon parrots? I visited yesterday, but I didn't see them in either the old nocturnal building or the tropical building. There was an empty exhibit under renovation in the old nocturnal building.

I'm happy to see that the habitat in the gift shop is occupied once again after being vacant for some time. Pancake tortoises make their home there now. The zoo provided some nice photos and information in this Facebook post.
